Re: Mixx-it Cd Series vs. Mixx-it Vinyl Series
Most of the CD stuff is the same as the vinyl ..... if not exactly the same.
The CD's that "Mixx-It" was selling a few years back were mostly vinyl transfers from what I have heard.
Meaning .. instead of using the masters to create the CD's they taped vinyl copies then used those rips to create the CD. Not the best way to do it , but better than nothing considering he probably had ("more decent copies" than anyone else at the time for lack of a better term).
If I had to guess he probably had zillions of different edits of mixes stashed away but more than likely not labeled that well in his collection and it was probably easier to just make copies of the vinyls rather that go through all those mixes and try to identify "what was what" and cross-reference it to one of the numbered vinyls.

I know these two Prince medley mixes on CD are from vinyl.

Because they came from this originally on "Hot-Tracks"

The only difference is, the inrto was cut out on the Mixx-It versions, otherwise identical.
I think there is another one like this too on some Mixx-It release, where it's an edited version of a Hot-Tracks mix. During the early / mid 80's Cameron Paul was in charge of Hot-Tracks and when he started Mixx-It he took a few mixes with him to his own label.
