Finally in Europe they will stir up things aswell, so much for my rant against the USA
This is bad..... Our hobby needs to be redone in a totally different way or the forum will stay closed forever.

I got this link in my email from:

ACTA - 'The Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement' is a proposed
plurilateral agreement for the purpose of establishing international
standards on intellectual property rights enforcement.
ACTA would
establish a new international legal framework that would create its
"own governing body outside existing international institutions" such as
- the World Trade Organization (WTO), the World Intellectual Property
Organization (WIPO) or the United Nations.
An open letter
signed by many organizations, including Consumers International, EDRi
(27 European civil rights and privacy NGOs), the Free Software
Foundation (FSF), the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), ASIC (French
trade association for web 2.0 companies), and the Free Knowledge
Institute (FKI), states that "the current draft of ACTA would profoundly
restrict the fundamental rights and freedoms of European citizens, most
notably the freedom of expression and communication privacy."
[UPDATE] - It seems, SOPA and PIPA were just distractions! while they signed a copyright treaty "ACTA" behind the curtain...
US, Australia, Japan, Switzerland, and many EU nations have already signed this secret censorship pact last year in 2011.
The Recent country to join the list is - Poland.

I for one would have expected more of a response to this thread ~ after all, this not only directly effects us as music lovers, but the entire internet as we ALL know it ..

Re: ACTA (another fuck up)
There is only so much one can do, besides lobbying to have something stopped. I'm sure people aren't sympathetic to our cause persay, even if a lot of the stuff is over 15 years old and out of print. But most people are just laying low to see what the outcome is going to be and the best way to proceed, which I really can't blame anyone for being nervous and not around. There are a lot of dynamics to consider......and that primary one is to stay out of any legal crosshairs......that is why I nuked all my posts at the old board.....I don't want gov up my ass for shit that just ain't worth it......wouldn't you agree? What would you expect most to do at this point? We have a solution, just need to get everyone on board with it.......
Already got people whining and crying about having to learn something new, specifically, usenet......its the same shit except in a different form, zip up stuff, load it here.......how hard is that really? Oh copy and paste a link to a file storage locker, copy and paste two unique numbers to usenet.......hmm........
Then you have others saying they won't upload anything because it requires effort on their part.......GMAFB.
People don't like change.......I dunno, I give up trying to figure people out.

Re: ACTA (another fuck up)
I understand everything that you have just said ..my comment was not to disparage anyone or say anything in particular regarding music, laziness or bitching. My comment was to try and emphasize that this is NOT just about music or movies and it would seem extremely narrow minded & selfish for anyone to walk away from this subject thinking that is was. It will effect so much more than my lack of finances or desire to spend hard earned money on great music or films, much less any that I may consider to be sub-par ~
The powers that be would love to find a way to make this ONLY effect movies & music, but I am afraid that is why it is taking so long ~ trying to find a way to only fuck the music / movie "stealers" aka sharers .. also, in the end .."our cause" will be only the "beginning" unless they can figure out a way to make it specific to fucking Hollywood & the music industries, then everything as we know it will completely change.
And I am not trying to say that we, as the music forum, shouldn't lay low, I only mean, we should at least be educating ourselves on the gravity of the subject.
I, much like many, don't like to learn anything new either [I also hate to read], especially at my age, but should this end up going down the way some are saying, then we will have a lot more to learn & a lot more that we wished we had. I mean, did anyone even watch the video or look into it as a subject all it's own, rather than only viewing it as it could pertain to music/movie file sharing? Copyright laws under these strict guidelines will make it impossible to even fart on the internet without fear of "big brother" staring down at you with possible retribution.
I suppose I should just drop it & see in time where the chips may fall ~ Hopefully, there are a lot of paranoid jackasses out there, just like me that are very wrong in our concern.

Re: ACTA (another fuck up)
Hi Chris,
I posted this in the hope that more people would respond on it also but if they don't, what can we do. Found another solution for people interested but that also costs money. But it could be an alternative. Look for the 'Hide my ass' topic.

Thanks Dirk, I will look at that site ..
I also, just want to be clear, that I'm not trying to be an asshole, I just wonder if everyone realizes that this will effect much more than just our music ..

Hi Chris,
I bump this in the hope that people understand after almost 2 months and the constant closure of sites and filehosts we need to try the usenet alternative. After all my research I think it's the only waY for us to continue in a SAFE WAY FOR EVERYONE! at least for the time being.
Opened a new topic named: Anyone?!!! Let's see if we will gather some feedback.
Dirk

Re: ACTA (another fuck up)
I truly appreciate that sentiment Dirk and I want you to know that I respect everyone's hard work and dedication in finding a solution for us all ..
I do miss ''our'' OLD forum very much also ..
My apologies for not taking an active part in the research to continue with 'our' WONDERFUL forum ..and I make no real excuses for this, I have just not been my normal self lately ..I have been struggling with depression and other issues for most of my life and sometimes it becomes more difficult for myself than others.
Again, I am grateful for the commitment by those here to recreate and reinvent "our" musical place of camaraderie ..
I do have faith that we shall overcome this and find "our" place to share friendship and mutual love of music once again ..

Thanks Chris. It looks like most of our members seem not to understand the issue here. Makes one wonder....
