Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Relax (Sex mix edit)

The version on The Art Of The 12" seems to be not the real deal does anyone have a link, Youtube or so, to a vinyl rip of the real thing so I can give it a listen?

Thanks so the version on The art of the 12" is indeed something different an unreleased 12" version as mentioned on part 2. Who knows maybe it was created just for this release.

It seems to me that this came out more than one time. Looking them up at discogs is a real f##king pain in the ass. Seems there are shitloads of releases that used the same catalog numbers, but had different mixes on them depending on what "generation" / "version" it was.

Looking on Wikipedia did not help maters either ......... I think they have "some" (but not all wrong) info listed on this. (a little hard to explain)

Wikipedia:

The original 12-inch version of "Relax", labelled "Sex Mix", ran for over 16 minutes, and is broadly as described by Horn above. The subsequent "New York Mix" was an 8-minute-plus edit of the "Sex Mix", and can only be distinguished by having 12ISZTAS1 etched on the vinyl. The final 12-inch mix, containing no elements from the foregoing versions, was designated the "U.S. Mix", and ran for approximately 7:20. This was the most commonly available 12-inch version of "Relax" during its worldwide 1984 chart success.

If you look at the page closely, he added hyper links to the other issues (in-side) the title descriptions of the other release with similar catolog numbers.

According to that discogs page, if I'm reading it right This file on "sound cloud" is second edition version with matrix A-2U and 12-IS-ZTAS-1-AS/BS.

However ...... going back to what Wikipedia wrote ........ I can't find any label scan that shows the mix ever being (miss-titled) or (at one time) being called the New York Mix at 8:20 long in duration. Seems when it came out it was called the "Sex Mix" but not fully described as an edited version.

What a cluster fuck of different titles and releases.

I guess a lot of this does not matter, ... with out question ... the mix "The Art Of The 12" is a totally different version.

Thanks for asking about this version. Never knew the recently released one on "The Art Of The 12" is a fake. You would have thought they would have gotten that information / mix correct on that release.

The 'sex mix' on the Art Of 12" Vol. 1 was previously released, just in 2009, on a japanese FGTH compilation... the name was 'Return to the pleasredome'...

...that 'sex mix edit', track 1 on CD 2, is the same as on the 'Art Of 12"' CD, just with very little longer fade out at the end...that means a few seconds longer than the Art of 12" version. Who knows why!!!

And it´s also right that the 'real' edit of the 16 mins 'Sex Mix' was never released as an 'edit'...the released name was 'Sex Mix' too, but we need to put some name to the difference!!!
