First commercially available single sided 12”?
Hi guys,
I am looking for some help. I have been trying to find out the first commercially available single sided 12” (Not Promos that were given out to DJs).
Here is an example [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I have spent hours but cannot find anything. There must be some info but where?
Any help, please?
Thanks

Hi Andrew
For the oldest these two from 1901 are hard to beat
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
At 45 rpm I'll go with this.

But there a a few weird ones before this one that were not really what I would classify anything the general public would purchase,
At 33 rpm I'll go with this one
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
But my personal favorite is this one.

Re: First commercially available single sided 12”?
I remember the first single sided LP I came across.. (Well, almost remember) It was a Program show. Something like Casey Kasem top forty show, complete with commercials!! But it wasn't Casey Kasem. I don't remember what it was... And none of it was for commercial sale..
Then after that when I started to collect music from before my time (LOL) I found a lot of Casablanca 12" singles single sided. Though all of them (I think) were Promos.
I'm sure Spin has all the real data as to what was around. (You Geek!) But this post was an enjoyable memory and I had to comment.

True about "Spin" he might have been around for the release of the two from 1901..... with me just after.
I too have quite a few Casablanca records that are single sided with good memories, a few I got when they were originally released, yes I am that old and was a DJ back then.....

Such a sad point in time when the Casablanca label as we knew it back then closed its doors. Finding or getting these old "12 inchers" back in the day was like gold especially if it had a slightly different version than other double sided versions.
